Scamps Summer Day Camp

Spofford Change Action and Mastery Programs (SCAMPS)

SCAMPS is our summer day camp for children ages 6-13 that specializes in providing social skills development; particularly peer interaction, conflict resolution, and self-confidence.

2008 SCAMPS Information

Location
On Spofford’s 34–acre campus at 9700 Grandview Road in South Kansas City; adjacent to the Oakwood Country Club.

Session Dates
Session I   6/02/08 – 6/29/08
Session II  7/07/08 – 8/01/08

Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Each session is four weeks long.

Important: The SCAMPS curriculum is a progressive method designed to build social skills that require rehearsal and practice to master. Attendance for the entire four-week session is required. Staffing ratios are maintained at one staff member for every five children.

Cost
$1,500.00 per child/per session; generous Spofford donors have provided scholarship monies. Inquire for application.

A deposit of $300.00 is required at time of enrollment – 40 campers per session; your deposit is your reservation. Payment in full is required prior to camper participation.

Visa, MasterCard, and personal checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to Spofford.

Session I full payment due date – Friday, May 19 by 3:00 p.m.
Session II full payment due date – Friday, June 30 by 3:00 p.m.

Limited scholarships are available. Inquire for application.

Early and Late Care
Early Care hours are 8 – 9 a.m.
Late Care hours are 4 – 5:00 p.m.

Early and Late Care costs $25.00/week ($100.00/session) All children must be picked up by 5:00 p.m. There are additional charges for picking up a camper later than 5:00p.m.

Success at Spofford

Cristina, 11 years old, was engaging and funny . . . with all the adults in her life. Her 99th percentile IQ provided her a quick wit and keen observation skills. One piece that was missing for Cristina, though, was the ability to forge friendships with children her own age.
